SUMMER SOCCER CELEBRATION! FANS is organizing a socially distanced summer soccer meetup where we play fun games and introduce newcomers to soccer! Snacks will be provided for you and your family! Parents are welcome to join the fun. The event is planned for Saturday August 15th from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the South Calgary Soccer Field. GET READY FOR SUMMER SPORTS READING! We have packages of three sports magazines available for pick up. Stop by Jelly Modern Doughnuts at 1414 8th Street SW and tell them that you would like the FANS magazines. They will give you the pack of three sports magazines and two doughnuts to enjoy while you are reading.
SHARE YOUR PHOTOS AND WIN! We encourage all newcomers to join a new sport or keep working on one that you love! Please send us your newcomer story and photos of you playing a sport to post on our website and social media. We will be randomly selecting photos of our newcomers to win prizes from our wonderful partners.
SPREAD THE WORD! Donation boxes are out at all Jelly Modern Doughnuts locations. Please encourage your friends to make a donation at the store or on our FANS website. All proceeds go to support the newcomers with sports camps and sports equipment.

YOUTH FORUM WITH CIWA ON FEBRUARY 13TH We are pleased to announce that FANS will be part of the Youth Forum with CIWA for the second year! Join us on Thursday, February 13th from 10am to 2pm at Marlborough Community Association, 636 Marlborough way NE, T2A 2V9.

CELEBRATE CALGARY DIVERSITY ON MARCH 28TH On behalf of Centre for Newcomers, we would like to invite you to their 5th annual fundraiser event on Saturday, March 28th at the Habebe’s Banquet Hall. Let’s celebrate together Calgary’s culture and diversity featuring Bhangra Bollywood dancing, Middle Eastern Performances, African folk dancing, a Filipino Tinkling dance and more! There will also be a silent auction with great deals around the city, a fun photobooth, raffle draws, and great food and drinks throughout the night.

We are excited for our Third Annual Holiday Equipment Drive this year! This year, we have expanded from sports balls to all kinds of sports equipment, gift cards from sports equipment stores, and tickets to sporting events!
Partners and friends of FANS, if you have any new or used equipment that you’d like for our other newcomers to learn and enjoy, as well as gift card or cash donations of any amount to help us provide holiday gifts to our members, please let us know! We’re happy to pick them up at your location.

Contact us via email if you are interested in receiving the holiday gift bag, which includes sports magazines, sweet treats, and some may include free admission vouchers to Recreation Centres throughout the city, sports equipment and a voucher for a special winter program including a winter session with SUNS Basketball and STARS Volleyball. Gift bags will be ready for pickup on December 11th to December 23rd. Please email us ahead of time to make arrangements for your gift bag and to communicate what sports program or services you will use so we can customize your gift bag for you.
