• Benjamin served as a senior staff reporter for the Daily Californian, a student-run newspaper for the University of California, Berkeley. He covered football, basketball, and many other sports. You can read his stories here. 
• We have a vast collection of sports magazines and books that are being donated to Newcomers. Contact us to receive sports magazines and books. Contact Us  
• Our FANS team provides consultations on Sports equipment and Rules of Play for Newcomers who are joining a new Sport. Benjamin would also be happy to chat with any newcomers interested in learning about careers in professional sports. Contact Us 

Free Ticket Initiatives

• FANS is thrilled to present a partnership with the University of Calgary Dinos where we offer free tickets to ANY Dinos Sporting Event. Secure your free tickets here with the code “Dinosfans2024” at check-out! We frequently host free game nights with local Calgary sports teams as well, so keep an eye out on our latest newsletters for communications about these!

Skating & Hockey Initiatives

• Don’t have skates and would love to learn? We have used hockey and figure skates available, at no cost. Please contact us and let us know your size.
• Want to go for a skate? Please let us know if you want to join the two of us for a skate at no cost, of course. Please also watch for our announcement of a Family Skating Event for everyone.
• Time to pull out the skates and try skating. Send us a photo of you skating and your name will be entered to win a basket from our valued sponsor Professional Skate which includes lots of goodies. Need a place to practice skating and just some tips on skating? Please join Benjamin and Lucy for a fun time on the skating rink. • It is Hockey Season and our partner Jelly Modern Doughnuts is supporting Newcomers on Hockey Teams. Just send us a photo for our website and social media of you in your hockey gear or a photo with your team along with the date of the game and Jelly Modern Doughnuts will provide doughnuts for your team for the first 20 Newcomers that respond. Holiday Season Initiatives

• We will be doing our Holiday equipment drive again this year. We have expanded from sports balls to any sports equipment. Please send us an email to tell us about what equipment you need and what size you need if it is sized equipment. Watch for our December newsletter for more details on the Equipment drive.
• If you also would like to donate sports equipment that you would like to pass on to our newcomers, please let us know 
• It is time for winter reading. Sports magazines in packs of three and 4 doughnuts to enjoy while reading are available for pick up. Send us a note and we will be sure that they are ready for you when you can pick them up.

Soccer Season Initiatives

• It is Soccer Season and our partner Jelly Modern Doughnuts is supporting Newcomers on Soccer Teams.
